Grandma!
I know it's been a million years since I've posted anything but I know there are a few of you out there who will want to know that my Grandmother is unfortunately starting to act her age. She fell down last night, at home, and fractured her hip. I called the hospital this morning to talk to her but she was completely high and fell asleep after she told me she was "fine". My aunt was with her and said this was luckily the type of fracture that even at 93, almost 94, she would have a good chance of a full recovery but it would take a while. She will have a pin put in her hip at some point this afternoon and will then be in the hospital for another few days before she can go home. I'm stuck at home with a wrist in a cast right now so I can't drive up to see her today but I did pick out the largest, purplest, bouquet of flowers I could find on line to be delivered to her and will try to go up later this week. I love my spunky Granny. I hope she's off the meds soon so she can give them hell at the hospital. No way would she sit on the bench with the "old ladies" at the park. |

My little ballerina! I am such a proud mama! Atom was chosen by the San Francisco Ballet to recieve a scholarship (and a free outfit and pair of shoes) to their dance school next year. He was the only kid from his entire k-5 school to get this. Dance away my little Billy Elliott! |

house! I got to go through our new/old house and take a bunch of pictures. Escrow closes (fingers crossed) July 28th. It felt bigger and lighter than the last time I went through it. I think we can do a lot with it. I'll post the haunted basement and it's mud floor "bedroom" pics later. Our house report says that there is a "bedroom" in the basement that is not suitable for habitation. |

Doggy needs a home! I found this poor little guy last night in an industrial part of Oakland. I thought he was someones pet easter rabbit released into the wild at first because I could only see his ears through the bushes. He's a lover. He wanted pets more than he wanted food even though he his is extremely thin. I don't think he weighs more than 3 pounds. Someone or something was very mean to him at some point he has big scars on his back. He is on the younger side but seems to already be neutered. You know me, I would love to keep a funny lookin' bug eyed thing around my house but the land lady only approved one dog so I have to find him a home. xo. Anna |

Happy 2008!
I looked back to see when my last post was and it was in December 2007. Bad! Bad! Since half of my friends list may not believe it's really me, it being April fools day and all, here's a quick update on what I've been doing that's been keeping me away from livejournal. I've been teaching my daughter to spell and cut her own hair. Encouraging my son to live dangerously. Getting ALL of my divorce paperwork filed, including a settlement agreement that should keep me safe from my ex's creditors. It should be final May 1st. Whoo hoo! I'm a single woman again! ...well kinda. I'm looking into buying a house with the boyfriend. We are trying for San Francisco but may end up in Oakland or Richmond depending on what the mortgage broker says in a couple of weeks. I still love my job but have some wrist arm injuries that are making me worry about my ability to cut the cheese long term. I've been avoiding the computer because the first question I got from every doctor/physical therapist I've seen was "So how long does your job keep you at the computer each day?". I miss you all loads. I am going to make an effort to catch up with you all. xo, Anna |

Name the kitty Look who I adopted today! She needs a name, have any suggestions? I'll even take suggestions from folks on my friends list who will roll there eyes about this (you know who you are;). She's somewhere between 4-8 months old and has mostly tan and black stripes with some crazy orange patches every now and then. Also notice the black tips on the tops of her ears. She's a very handsome cat. She will be at animal care & control for the next few days while she gets spayed and has the rest of her shots. I should be able to bring her home by Thursday. |

Bye bye hair!
Yet another vanity post, sorry. I'm going to cut off 10"-12" to donate which will leave my hair just at or above shoulder level. What kind of cut/color should I get? |

Ranger Larry got his first tattoo My dad turned 60 this year and since then has bought a new motorcycle (he's owned them in the past), let his hair grow out, and as of last week got his first tattoo. He drove from Mendocino county up the California and Oregon coast and then inland to Portland. He stayed a night or 2 with my sister and then drove up to the Candaian border where they wouldn't let him in because they know better than that;) |

Is there a term for this situation?
Last night I went to a baseball game with Todd (please save your mocking for another post;) and as we were walking from the BART to the stadium we got hassled by some ticket scalpers. They kept calling Todd "big guy" and when we told them we didn't want to buy tix off of them they started making nasty comments about our appearances. I was ready to start yelling back at them but thought that wouldn't be such a good idea. Here's the weird part. About 500ft from where these scalpers were we ran into a family of 6 or so people who asked us if we needed 2 tix. I was going to keep on walking assuming it was more trouble but Todd stopped to talk to them. They said "Our friends can't make it and you guys look like nice people so you can have their tickets." One group giving us grief for the way we look and minuets later another group seeming to reward us for our appearance. It's not really irony, and I won't use the "K" word karma, but is there a term for this? |
